Description
This is a follow-up post to my Hummingbird Feeding Frenzy! photo. Both were taken last Saturday in Holly Springs, Mississippi at the annual Humming Bird Migration Celebration Festival, located at the Strawberry Plains Audubon Center.
Julia and I didn't know the place even existed until she discovered it on line last week, and we were both quite impressed. We plan on returning on a regular, non-festival day.
The humming birds were everywhere! In fact I saw more humming birds that afternoon than I've seen the rest of my life combined!
We received quite an education on the tiny creatures, and this coming spring, assuming the world hasn't blown up, we plan on making our back yard a humming bird sanctuary!
This was taken while the bird was being "banded", a small band attached to the leg used for tracking purposes. It was so small I couldn't even see it!
Thanks for stopping by,
marshall

Wonderful capture! Once a hummer got into the cab of my boyfriend's semi. The poor thing was trying to get out through the windshield, even though the driver window was open. I managed to catch it and help it out. It was SO tiny! And didn't really seem to be afraid to let me touch it.

Oh how lucky you are to have been able to witness this! We have, at a maximum, four at a time in our yard, and each is busy trying to claim the feeder from the other! Guess we need more feeders... ;o) Wonderful shot!
