Description

Originally bred from Mallards, Crested Ducks have a birth defect: a hole in the skull. Fatty tissue comes through the hole and grows feathers. This bird has one normal gene and one crested gene. A bird with two crested genes dies in the shell. Found at Fort Lowell Park, Tucson, Arizona, USA. The hand belongs to a man who feeds the ducks every day at 4 PM.
