So, I had this concept prowling in my mind for a scene from Season 2 of SGL ...Seeing it fleshed has helped me a write a few scenes I had been stuck on for weeks--preliminary dialogue : ***** Edicus approached Isabella from the shadows and stared at her with an astute appreciation that unnerved her. "I can see why the Covalent loves you," he said his steely gaze unwavering, "You are a very strong woman Isabella--as well as lovely." "His name is Aaron," Isabella growled, casting the complement aside as she tried to put a name to the emerging emotions that were attempting to bubble to the surface. Rage? Fear? Desolation--maybe a mix of them all, "How could you Edicus? You are a Draeli--protecting the Covalent is against everything you stand for." "Wrong..." Finally breaking her gaze Edicus stepped closer. His abrupt movement made Issa realize that she had been holding her breath durign thier locked gaze, "The Draeli mission is in error and is counter my original teachings on the subject of majiks. When I was exiled it wasn't merely because I gave majik to humans but because I had predicted that there would rise from amongst humanity a majiki who would bond all species of life on earth as one..." Rage finally won out as his words hit home their meaning, "They exiled you because you are a raving lunatic! The covalent is no messiah!" When Edicus' face softened in sympathy at her outburst, it only served to deepen her anger, "I understand how you feel, you lost a husband; a-a child that had yet to breath air...but that was so very long ago. The previous incarnations were not trained to handle their powers as The Order was unable to find them in time. Their powers drove them to madness....Aaron is still young and pliable. Isabella--you have seen his--his goodness--his spirit. There is a reason you carry his child inside you now, in spite of all odds against it..." The mention of the child she currently carried instantly deflated her. Isabella sagged and plopped onto the sofa, the fight leaving her body, "I was so stupid--I have no idea why I -- why we... did... what we ..." "Sure you do. You love him." "No! Yes...I don't know what I feel...all I know is I spent centuries fighting this kind of evil -- yes EVIL Edicus" She sighed at his reprimanding gestures, "No one human being should possess that much power..." Edicus came towards her and laid his hand on her growing belly, taking her aback. His touch was gentle but made her uncomfortable nonetheless. "And yet--it was this same power that created life in you where life was not supposed to exits. Tell me--is that evil?"
