Description

Captured 12/2/10, very early in the morning, at a local park, within striding distance of my recalcitrant residence. Phenomenal detail viewed full size. Haven't posted one of these in quite a while. And, what do you call that expiring growth that is casting the big shadow? I used to know but senility is catching up with me. Sayonara, thankx for popping in, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

That is an incredible image created from the lengthening shadow. Ya know, I'm from Minnesota but my first guess is the seed pod from a Yucca Blossom. Now if it was a pine cone, I'd be certain!

I'm pretty sure that's a magnolia seed head, Harry; I remember stepping on tons of these as a kid. It sure makes a wonderful shadow, and you're right about the detail on zoom. Well done you!

another of your scintillating studies of the simple forms of nature interacting with sidewalks, walkways, walls, fences, etc. And of course, it shows your impeccable way with shadows as well. But it's not just the 'big' shadow that speaks here, but the little ones: that is, of the pebbles and few "debris" that are scattered in the front of the shot. Fine detail wth an overall ambience of amber & peaceful quiet, even though it may be surrounded by people, cars or whatever. You can isolate these things for us so we'd never know. Another of your scintillating shadow captures, Harry.

reminds me of when you hear someone say does my butt look big in this picture, so I wonder if the pinecone wondered it it looked big in his shadow. ;) lol I've apparently been in the sun too long today. :) Nice work.
