Description

I couldnt decide so you get 2 POVs of Horseshoe Falls which is part of Niagara Falls, on the Niagara River. Approximately 90% of the Niagara River, after diversions for hydropower generation, flows over Horseshoe Falls. The remaining 10% flows over the American Falls. Much of Horseshoe Falls is located in Ontario, Canada with the remainder in New York State, US. The name is derived from its curving, horseshoe shaped crest that is 2,201 feet (671 meters) in width. At the top of Horseshoe Falls the water is about 9.8 feet (3 meters) deep. It passes over the crest at a speed of about 20 mph (32 KMph). The falls are 174 feet (53 meters) high. The depth of the river, at the base of the falls, estimated at 184 feet (56 meters), is actually deeper than the height of the falls itself. Late 1990s photo scanned. Thanks for stopping by my gallery, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

It makes no difference when these pix were taken - after all they are still there and probably many more Moons to come ... Thank you for the armchair travelling show - maybe one fine day I will have the opportunity to see them for myself - indeed this is spectacular and also thanks for converting the measurements into decimals, Dana BB

Great captures of the Horseshoe Falls, Dana. I understand very well why you couldn't decide which one! Sheer water power on the loose! :o)
