Description

The New Orleans class heavy cruisers were built in the 1930's within the restrictions imposed by the Washington Naval Treaty. These 8-inch gun cruisers weighed in at just under the treaty's magic 10,000 tons, with a length of 180m. These ships and their crews were often in the thick of the fighting in the Pacific Theatre of WW2. USS Astoria, Quincy and Vincennes were all sunk at the Battle of Savo Island in 1942! The remaining four survived the war- even the USS New Orleans, whose heroic crew sailed her from the Solomons to Australia 25% shorter after the catastrophic loss of her entire bow forward of no. 2 turret following a torpedo strike!!! Rendered in Vue 8 Esprit My model is available at... http://www.ShareCG.com/v/55251/view/5/3D-Model/New-Orleans-class-heavy-cruiser I've been playing with "wakes" in Vue... aside from water "splash" plants from Cornucopia3D site this wake uses a transmapped plane and a home made wake "object" - but both submerged just under the water surface and made "luminous"- its an interesting effect that I might work on a bit more.

Really successful wakes. It's not easy to do convincingly and your rendition here is very well done! Of course the model is really nice as well. Good job.
