Description

My last outing was in August, hiking from Waipio Valley to Waimanu Valley. Its about an 8 mile hike passing thru 12 gulches. Waimanu Valley is a beautiful place and is decorated with about 6 waterfalls. If you ever plan to hike there, plan to stay at least 3 days there. We just stayed over night and no real time to recuperate from the difficult hike. All three of us had tents and sleeping on the ground is difficult even tho I had a thermal rest bed pad. Anyone with back problems will not be comfortable on the ground. So I researched the internet, found and bought a Hennessy Hammock. It is great and very comfortable especially for the bad back. The trick of sleeping in a Hammock is to sleep diagonal and not straight. My Hammock below. Aloha and thank you for viewing See "Waimanu Valley Video"

you all set now. Plus you do not have to worry about snakes and other things that is on the ground. My dad got us some jungle Hammocks that looks a little like this but was made out of differ stuff. They was made for jungle war in the 1950's or 60's. he got them at the army surplus store. I was a teen in the 60's so i had fun with them.

I love my swag, but have never tried one of these. Very cool dude. LOL at Jocko's comment about snakes......you do know that they can climb trees!!!!!!!!!! And other than Hawaiian Blind Snakes which are more like worms, and Sea Snakes, Hawaii doesn't have any snakes.

LOL@jayfar...I use that peg/close pin to stop the rain water from dripping down the ropes. @blinkings...I'm glad we do not have deadly snakes. We only have deadly mosquitos...lol Aloha

Better than the mosquitoes, although annoying! Good idea not to sleep on the floor! I think not only tiring, this adventure is full of great emotions!

Yeah, Errol posted once again!!!!!! Have often wanted to look into such a purchase. Trouble is it looks uncomfortable for more than one person and secondly, it's hard to find trees in a lot of the desert terrain I hike. :~)

I've missed your posts so I was delighted to see this. Hammock camping sounds interesting. I love being in our hammock in the back yard - I can sleep quite well in it but it isn't fancy like this. I loved watching the video.

That tent might come in handy here, looks like it would work well in a swamp. ;) Excellent capture! :) That is a long video, but interesting.

Gorgeous image, Sharky! Such a most beautiful place, with an atmosphere that is most lovely, and calling! I envy you for being able to go off to such places, and the sightseeing you partake in! The captures are evidence of how truly beautiful these places really are!

What a great idea Errol. I was just thinking two or three days ago that I hadn't seen anything of you recently. Glad to see your comment this morning.
