Description
Many years have passed. We find ourselves once again in the old courtyard where the prisoner faced the Muskateer, so many generations ago. Legend has it that he talked his way out of going back to the prison. Or that he bested the Musketeer in a sword fight and the Musketeer is buried out behind the stable. There are many other variations on the story, but the prisoner wound up staying on the land, becoming a pillar of the community and raising a fine, large family.
But now, in this future setting, the family will be put to the test again. War has overrun their country and the army is chasing around conscripting all the young men and horses they can find. It is a terrible time to live in, not knowing what will happen next. Stories abound of slaughter and mayhem even as near as the next village. The sound of cannon roars constantly in the distance. What can this young man, who looks so much like his ancestor, the prisoner in my previous image, do but saddle up his horse, bringing his other horses with and go off with the Hussar and fight in this war. If he is very lucky, he will return alive to his family and farm and not wind up crippled for life, either mentally or physically!

another twist would be:if the emperor is gay he might be able to get a job for special duty and stay away from the cannons and flying bullets. but maybe this will cripple him even more mentally.

Great story! From my point of view the most evil thing of war is that so many young men are dying who could do someting else with each other then shooting. Very good picture with nice scene settings!

For King and country. War is such a waste of resources. And what kind of decision making process is it anyway? The argument is settled by the stronger army being right. Great scene and story Rene. I hope you pursue this storyline with further exploits from this character.
