Description


Ptilinopus magnificus aka Wompoo Pigeon. A bird of New Guinea and Australia. He has a breast the same color as his eye, rather maroon.

What lovely plumage! Just when I think that insects are the best dressed creatures around, along comes a bird! Nature is such a marvel, especially in terms of colorful things: many of whom possess rather odd biological habits and abilities. I love the pose of this bird and the nice contrast between the reddish eye and the largely green feathers. A green dove! Who knew?!?!
