Description
Today is the first full day of Autumn for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. But here is southern California it doesn't feel like Autumn. Sure the days are getting shorter but it's still 85 degrees out, the beaches are busy and shorts and sandals are still the attire of choice.
But Autumn is coming. The leaves will be turning color soon and the beaches will empty. The days will be cooler.

Oh What a beautiful and captivating scene.. Thanks for getting a shot of this beauty Yep already getting cooler here in Ky low 50's at night...jacket or sweatshirt weather makes me think of fixing a big kettle of chili...or beans and with cornbread and and a big onion....... I did the lima bean deal last week when a cool week was here no beauty like this..our day was gloomy cold and rainy This is def a fav with me......and colors just starting to turn Hugs Susan~

This is amazing and has the most wonderful "painted" feeling to it. I think it's from the intensity of the color, the overall composition, and the great use of light. Really superb work. Chicago's been gray and cloudy, even though the sun came out a bit today...it still felt cloudy and this image is the perfect antidote to that.

My favorite time of year. I am excited that my daughter picked this time of year for her wedding, and its going to be held outdoor hoping for lots of falling leaves that day!!! Nice image.

Chicago seems to be racing into Autumn faster than normal this year. We're averaging 12 to 15 degrees below normal for this time of year, the semi-permanent cold weather cloud cover has descended and the leaves seem to be deciding whether it's time to start turning or have another cup of coffee and think about it next week. I like this a lot. It has an almost painterly quality to it. In fact, in thumbnail I thought it actually WAS a painting. Wonderful work.
