Dear friends,
yesterday was marathon day in Berlin. This is the biggest sport event in town with more then 1 million visitors and more then 40 000 sportswomen and -men. This pic is dedicated to all those people, star athlets and normal folks, handicaped and not handicaped. My special respect is for those who were handicaped; many of them are iron athlets we all can learn from - like this man here with crippled legs. I gave this pic here the title
"THE FIGHTER".

The Berlin Marathon is one of the Big Five (New York, London, Boston, Chicago). Didn`t I said that the Berlin Marathon is the most important of all? Nowhere exists a place were people run so quickly, and year after year the world record is reached here - and breaks one year later! The world record of 2010 was broken up this year again - what else? - by men and women......
Winner this year is PATRICK MAKAU from Kenia with 2:03:38, who bet the former world record winner from 2006-2010, Mr. Haile Gebrselassie from Ethiopia. Quickliest woman on earth is FLORENCE KIPLAGAT from Kenia with 2:19:44
If there should come a time when man runs the marathon in less 2 hours, it will be in the streets of Berlin...

Def...HANDICAPPED: 'Having a condition that markedly restricts one's ability to function'...........wow then by that definition he doesn't look handicapped at all. It would be ME that would be having trouble doing this!

@blinkings: I agree: We are the handicapped! The show goes on at 9.00 A.M, and when I reach this position 300 m from my flat 7 minutes later, this guy here has done the first 5 kilometers.... and when I hear 2 hours 3 minutes for the whole distance yesterday - I´m not sure that I could do it with my bike...... People like this man have my fully respect

Klasse Aufnahme. Titel paßt absolut! Ich habe großen Respekt vor Menschen, die nicht mit ihrem Schicksal hadern sondern es schaffen, anderen Menschen Mut zu machen, sich nicht aufzugeben. Wir haben diesen Event auch nicht verschlafen und standen als Kulisse am Straßenrand zum Anfeuern.
