Description
This is a short story that i wrote for a spanish steampunk forum...i did not won...but i´m happy to participate...hope is understandable in the english version...you know....i´m a bit limited on it.
Meeting in the storm
It was a spring morning ..
the breeze coming through the window of Lady
Eleanor, the curtains moving rhythmically.
"A promising day"
thought Eleanor for herself
watching the clouds pass.
Ah! clouds .. her favorite place!
No.. Not that Lady Eleanor had the
head in the clouds
as many said ....
she knew exactly what she did ...
but ... "Like father like son" ....
as the saying goes.
although Her father belonged ...
one of the best families ...
was what is commonly
known as the "black sheep".
That a lord were dedicated to making insane inventions! ....! That´s crazy!
Eleanor picked up her long hair
under the hat ready to leave.
She had something important to do ... something that would not admit it was delayed ...she owed it to her father .. because her father worked so hard on that project!
Side by side with him ... had achieved
to create an aircraft ... and
Now ... after his death ..
she was going to cover the mouths of the critics of her father.
She walked briskly and decisively towards the hangar where her plane was waiting ....
that would be a memorable day.
Boarded the ship and settled in the checkpoint.
The mechanism was complex ...
her father had
discovered something amazing ....
about using the magnetism of the earth and apply it to the ship to keep it in the air ...
(Something about the attraction-
repulsion of the poles)
.... Without affecting the inside of it,
as this would prevent the use of controls.
Also had small steam engines
to enhance the speed ... these were fed by robots, which
allowed Eleanor to handle the ship alone.
After settling, Eleanor turned the engines, found that everything worked properly, and started to fly.
At the beginning, rose slowly ....
power engines were reaching
and the magnetic force was more effective ...
Eleanor was soon in the air.
After some quiet time flying over the landscape ...
of a special beauty from the air by the way ...
Eleanor took a picnic basket, where she had the food ...
"There's nothing like enjoying a quiet meal in the clouds"
Eleanor thought, while enjoyed their favorite food.
The ship moved majestically
that leaving astonished the people that lifting the
eyes from the floor, were able to see her.
At Eleanor's eyes they were slightly larger than ants ... idea that made her smile.
