Description

The reason for this is that I want to know about the coyright rules when it comes to sculptures. If I take a shot of a sculpture, can I paint it and show it? Has the age of the sculpture anything to do with it. A sculpture on a place in town? New? Old? A sculpture in a church? Any other art seen outside? How about my obligation to say who made it (if I know, that is)? Must say I have no idea and hope someone knows more than I. Have a great weekend

This is such a vexing problem that we all have to try and deal with. My thoughts are if it is in a public place it is fine, but always try to find out who did it and give credit. I love what you have done with this little fellow you have made him quite mysterious.

I have no idea either. I would think something that is very old is no longer copyrighted, and there would be no problem. I would try to give credit, or tell who the artist was, just from respect, even if it is someone such as Michelangelo, who is long gone. Cemetery statues are something else again, who on earth would know who has created mass produced statuary, copies of something ancient, etc. So the answer is, I don't know what the protocol on that is. This, my Dear Gun, is spectacular. I love these old statues, and you've made this one so beautiful.
