Description


One of the best things about wildlife photography is you are always learning, and I consider myself fortunate when I observe new or interesting behavior, here this Juvenile Lesser Black backed Gull was diving into the water, and fishing out what looked like huge clams (probably Zebra Mussels) but many were larger than the 2" maximum supposedly for this type of freshwater shellfish. I then watched as it then proceeded to show me how it intended to break into the large mussel by dropping onto rocks below.. I have a few other shots I will show later some images of the dive and Mussels in beaks etc.. If anybody has any other ideas what these shellfish are if I am incorrect please let me know..
