Description

A balcony with a view: these ladies, perhaps mother and daughter, look at the people in the main street going back and forth for the feast. They were happy I took their photo. Their balcony, together with most balconies, windows and lamp posts in La Laguna, sport symbols of fertility and good luck: vegetables,fruit, baskets, colored fabrics, flowing ribbons and tassels. These symbols are as old as European culture itself, and can be seen in Neolithic figurines and Bronze Age mural paintings. Thanks for your kind comments.

It's good to see the old ways surviving...I'm all for innovation and convenience and stuff like that, but in terms of symbolism, the older stuff is so much more meaningful and proven...I love seeing stuff in "the old language" totally visible today and to top it off, you've captured a stunning shot. The colors are so vibrant and festive, and I love the older woman's hat! I suspect when there's a festival, one must wear the right hat! Nice. I like the POV as well, it's distinct and intimate, as if you know these ladies; their expressions are so friendly and inviting. This is wonderful. It's clear that everyone is having fun and well, that's what festivals are for, right?

What a contrast from the ladies in the previous image! These two look so friendly and welcoming. The lady on the left looks very carefree. I like the diagonal reflections in the sunglasses of the lady on the right. Beautiful colors and great POV. Thanks for the information. Excellent capture!
