Even the smallest thing makes a big shadow. It looks like burnt up ground. Wonderful shot.

at first I was thinking the lava fields at Sunset Volcano but closer inspection it seems as though it is a burnt forest area.nature renewing it's self

Beautiful image! The back lit needles look marvelous against the dark gray soil. The solitary tall tree and shadow are very dramatic. I like the little green sprout of new grow below it.
