what a great shot! I have to say I am not a HUGE fan of snakes, but I KNOW that they play a very, very important part in the ecosystem...I just don't like it when they startle me, LOL...which they tend to do around our koi pond. The garter snakes help to keep the frog population down around our pond. I even talk to the ones I see as I'm working around our pond. I know they can't hear me, but I feel better talking to them, LOL...intriguing creatures!

He/she is beautiful. Well done. So they are harmless are they? In the part of Australia that I live (Victoria), we don't have 'any' non-venomous snakes. So every snake you see around here is to be avoided 'BIG TIME'! I have never gotten closer enough to photograph a snake in the wild.
