Description
I HAVE A 9" DESERT SPINY LIZARD (Sceloporus magister ) LIVING IN THE MESQUITE TREE IN MY BACKYARD. I CAN SOMETIMES CATCH HIM, FEED HIM A FEW MEAL WORMS, AND THEN PUT HIM BACK IN THE TREE. HE HAS NEVER COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PHOTOS!

I've got my beady eye on you! Great close-up.

Feed somebody mealworms and you've got a friend for life...those things are tasty, when they're ripe. I love this shot! Reptiles have such an intriguing beauty and undeniable grace--even if they're fat and lazy monitor lizards who don't do very much more than sleep, shift position, and then sleep some more. I've had experience with one of those...and well...at least he was quiet. As for this shot. What a marvel. Reptiles have some of the most beautiful, detailed eyes I've ever seen. I love the colors and the close up of scales as scales are often not shown. This is a brilliant photo. Have you also noticed that any kind of spiny reptile is generally amenable to being photographed? It's those sleek, not-so-spiny ones that never want to stand still because they're always so terribly busy with important things.
