Description


This is a female "Zanate"(Quiscalus mexicanus).The males have black and metallic blue feathers. They are everywhere and eat almost everything, including my dog's food, So "cookie" had declared war to them. this photo was taken in the cafeteria at my workplace. She found food in a dumpster nearby and now she is already satisfied.(For a couple of minutes at least)

I am sure this bird will be a regular visitor from now on! actually I am not familiar with this type of bird - but he/she might be a bit similar to Currawongs in Australia? Such a stern expression, if you ask me! nice catch/image ;-) BB

Yes, is similar, they are from the same Phylum (Chordata) and order(Passeriformes), Not same family. But for me they look like brothers LOL

The male of the species is almost always more colorful than the female. Curious. I suppose the boys have to capture the attention of the girl they are courting. This is a superb capture. Wonderful exposure and clarity.
