Description

The next few pictures will not be from the Hill Country, as Braunig Lake Park is actually south of San Antonio. But they are from the spring of 2010, when I spent as much time as possible driving around the area looking for wildflowers. On my second time looking, I went south and found wildflowers which you can see in a previous post, here I then went to Braunig Lake Park where this was taken. In the 1960s, San Antonio needed more power for its growing size. Unfortunately they were in the midst of a 6 year draught, and water usage was a sensitive issue. San Antonio's sole source of water is the Edwards Underground Aquifer. They needed to generate more electrical power, but use less water from the aquifer. It was decided to build two new electric power plants, cool them with recycled water which was then released into two man made lakes. Braunig Lake is one of these lakes. It is a nice park with picnic tables, fishing, areas to walk and various animals. This information and more can be found here Thanks for viewing and for previous comments and favs!

This is a wonderful photo of this lake park Lucinda, it looks like a beautiful place. I remember well when we were talking on the phone back then and you telling me all about this time you spent driving around in search for wildflowers.

How very interesting your photo is. A really great and vivid capture which shows the play of the wind. I like that this lake is made by people. And that St. Antonio keeps intention to progress nature in his aria. I'm not sure I see left is a bird flying, but I love the contrast between the rod, so calm and silent in the landscape and capturing the tree, who resists the wind. A lovely scene, dear Lucinda.

Now that is using their noggins! Great idea and what a peaceful spot it makes too. I love how that tree is bending in the breeze and the fishing pole just stuck in the mud. Great shot.

You know Lucinda, this could be the inspiration for an oil-painting, IMHO - This is so calming - despite the windy conditions ... I just love the turbulence of the tree, resonating with me - (gawd, I hope I used the right words in the right order here? if you know what I mean?) Kudos, BB
