Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Love how the windows catches the daytime glow without over powering but indeed enhancing the colours of the flowers.

Contrary to popular belief, dirty windows are often far more interesting than clean ones...they're a natural diffusion filter and so photographers are interested in them because you can take a picture through a dirty window and never have to rely on Photoshop or the Gimp or some such program to diffuse light in that dirty window way. And I have to say that a dirty window and dusty countertop really add to this composition. It's a bit like the Shinto belief that everything must have a minor flaw in order to be distinct and perfect--not perfect to some arbitrary ideal but perfect in accordance to its nature. A clean, perfectly clear window is an indication that there is no glass there and well...I much prefer a glass that mosquitoes can't fly through. As you can see, I'm rambling again. I do that, you know. This is a great shot and I love the splash of different color provided by the flowers. Life is good when you can stop to eat, um, I mean smell the flowers and enjoy a window with weather gunk on it. Oh, and it's even better enjoying flowers and naturally-grunged windows with the right company! This rocks!

As I am running late with commenting, I realise that today is the 23rd, which I believe is your Birthday? Marilyn, if I am not mistaken? So, let me say just say this ~MANY HAPPY RETURNS~ to you ! and remember this: Birthdays are good for you - the more you have, the longer you live! ;-) Enjoy your time with your friend, who cares about windows, when you can smell the flowers or simply adore these lovely Cosmos ...
