Description

Hi All Thanks for taking the time and for being so kind as to leave comments and faves on my previous upload 'Siberian Tiger - King of his world'. It is so appreciated it. Hope you are all well today, hugs Jane xx I finally finished painting the white tiger request who is supposed to stand alongside his brother the Siberian tiger (that I painted in the background) on a white background, so hence the same stance I painted him using wacom intuos3 tablet and pen and PS CS4. Nothing else is the same though as you can see. I found out a little bit about the white tiger as I was researching on how he should look, and I can tell you I was surprised how different the white tigers can look. Some have very dark stripes, some have a brown stripe, others have a washed out orange look stripe, some hardly have any stripes at all, so it gave me some freedom on how I wanted to paint my tiger. I did use a photo purely as reference and not to replicate, credits below. Here is a little snippet from Wikepedia about the white tiger if you are interested to know: 'Dark-striped white tigers are well-documented in the Bengal Tiger subspecies, also known as the Royal Bengal or Indian tiger, (Panthera tigris tigris or P. t. bengalensis), and may also have occurred in captive Siberian Tigers (Panthera tigris altaica), as well as having been reported historically in several other subspecies. White pelage is most closely associated with the Bengal, or Indian subspecies. Currently, several hundred white tigers are in captivity worldwide with about 100 of them in India, and their numbers are on the increase. The modern population includes both pure Bengals and hybrid Bengal Siberians, but it is unclear whether the recessive gene for white came only from Bengals, or from any of the Siberian ancestors as well.'
