Description

For two days, this ranger has been following some very alarming footprints in the snow. They look a little like those of a dog, but they are larger than a bear's. An unknown creature is at large in the area! Now the tracks are new, so the animal must be close. The ranger is trying to see if he can actually spot it in the distance... I just had to make another render with this cool "Fantasy Ranger" M4 outfit from Xurge3D. My intention was to show more of him, but the composition took over, and I had to show him from the back :) Now I'll probably make a "reverse angle" shot as well. Toolbox: Vue, Poser, Onyxtree, Xfrog & Photoshop. Items from Cornucopia3D, DAZ, Xurge3D and myself. Thanks for viewing, comments etc. welcome and appreciated. Have a nice day - Lars ***COMMENT UPDATE*** About the snow effects: They are made in the terrain editor with a custom brush and "stamped" on the foreground hi-rez (2048x2048) terrain to get crispiness and precision. The "environment" is a standard 256x256 terrain. The terrain brush was made in PS from a TrueType font I found ("Animal Footprints" I think it was.) This is quite handy, as you can "type" footprints from different animals, and the font can even be used in the Vue text generator, for further "boolean" operations for even more presicion, should one want that :)

Excellent - fascinating story, great detail and visually compelling. Those are some BIG footprints - I don't think I'd be following them :)

great looking image, if it was me though and I saw those footprints maybe I would be going the other way rather than towards whatever made them.

Awesome! I hope you're going to show us this creature. Love the tracks in the snow. I'm guessing you make your own brush and use it in the terrain editor? Excellent lighting and landscape.

Wow, the footprint effects are awesome - did you paint them? The great lighting and very natural looking composition of the scene make for a wonderful mood. Nice work.

I get serious Daggerfall nostalgia with this image. Not so much due to the tracks (though very cool, and very ominous indeed!) but the snow, the lighting, and the ruins. Reminds me of just such a place and time of day back in gold old Iliac Bay region, probably near Wrothgaria. Love when an image can do that, just draw you in. Cheers!
