Description
I created this image by first making a simple matte painting of the ground and sky in Photoshop and then using Cineam 4D's projection man to project the painting in 3D space. I then built the large rocks quickly in ZBrush, goZd them to Cinema 4D, built the city models in Cinema 4D, then layed it all out on top of the projected painting.
After that was done, I rendered a multipass image with object buffers for each element and sent it back to Photoshop. I then painted in the lights, fogs, and other effects. After that, I painted in the water and cliffs in the foreground.
Then, I went back to Cinema 4D, added more buildings, then rerendered the 3D elements again, re-combined them in Photoshop, mixed the color levels and did a bunch of touchups, and then after all was said and done, here you go.
