Description
In 1948 the first blasting with dynamite took off 10 tons of rock, since then millions of tons have been removed. The workers are now blocking out the horse's head. The painted outline shows the 45 foot ear and the 16 foot wide eye, some 260 feet below the head of Crazy Horse.
This sculpture will not be finished in this century.
This is in the Black Hills of South Dakota and taken in May this year..
Jocko asks what the hole is for - it is the start of the armpit and Crazy Horse will be pointing out to his lands over the horses head.

It's been a couple decades since being there myself. They've made a bit of progres since then. Time for a return trip....thinking 2020! :~p Great image Jeff!

reminds me of how they do road work here in Tennessee, you never seem to notice much progress but they seem to have all the equipment and tax dollars working. I hope they get it finished so some of us can see it, but sounds unlikely.

Fantastic...have never visited this site yet. One day we'll get there. You really got around on this trip. Bet you don't want to see another bus for awhile:)
