This was the first Mars interpretation of mine. (old: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=123332 ) I found this very old work in my hdd today and re-rendered it with a different angle at 4000x3000. Nothing special with it. postwork: some Vue stars and planets

it looks much better as your first pic, great terrain and atmosphere, but i think the moon & earth could be a bit sharpener, or?

this looks great however if you want to make it a bit more realistic you might want to re think the size of the earth and the moon which is what i assume the two planets are. great angle and look
