Excellent! The portrait in the other room and the battered green chairs were the kickers for me as far as 'realism' goes. [I grew up on stories about the coal mines as both my mother's father and grandfather were coal miners in North Alabama, and this brings back many fond memories of their stories. Good job!]

This is a truly wonderful scene! - the texturing, and the objects are all full of character! As far as critique goes, minor, but makes a hell of a difference to realism; Because the room is primarily in shadow, with only the splash of light from the window, there are no diffuse shadows under and close to the objects. If bryce had rasiosity, this is one factor that would be taken care of, other wise, adding soft airbrushed shadows in post would work would help! :)

Impressive as always Karin. Is the lighting the result of volumetric lighting or did you do this in Photoshop?
