"It's late. What do you want?"
The girl's lip trembled. She'd been through quite the ordeal just to get here. She wasn't expecting a crotchety old dragon to be the Mage's doorman. "My father sent me. Please, I'm so tired. May I come in?"
The dragon held his lantern out to better see her. "As I said, it's late. However, the Mage knows you're coming and said I had to let you in anyway. Follow me. I suppose you're hungry too."
"Now that you mention it...I...I am."
"Great."
