Description

Joe "Cinderella" Stalin was in a real pickle. The Ugly Bourgeois Sisters had been invited to the Superpower Ball but some idiot had filled his fireplace with genocidal stormtroopers... Who on Earth was gunna help clean up this mess? A "Ferry" God-mother of course... This Liberator 40-2374 was part of an early British order of Consolidated B24A or LB30s "borrowed" by the USAAF in the early 1940s, for important missions, ferrying VIPs, hauling strategic cargoes, or bringing American pilots home after they'd delivered bombers to Great Britain. As America was dragged inexorably toward war, these LB30s hugely extended America's global reach, laying the groundwork for the logistical feats to come. While "ferry" 74 was still painted up for use by the RAF's ahem... "People of Evening" it earned itself a special place in the sun by virtue of political neutrality- hence the large US flags painted on the fuselage. Not a sexy Spitfire or Mustang to be sure, 74 was nevertheless one of Liberators used in the important Harriman diplomatic mission to the USSR in September 1941- the mission that offered a valuable Lend-Lease pick-me-up to the hard-pressed Soviets. My LB30 model is rendered here in Vue 8 Esprit. This is "74" in her pre-Pearl Harbor "Ferrying Command" trappings, with an escort of Neiwil's superb I-16's Thanks for viewing...

LoL!! I wonder if we could re-write WWII as a fairy story (it would certainly suit the Governments of today). You've made a grand start here, a 'fireplace filled with genocidal stormtroopers'! what visions that brings to mind :-) 'People of the evening'...well Bomber Command where called a lot worse than that..but I like it. The image....absolute mustard! the B-24 has turned out a treat, great texture work. Thanks for fitting the I-16's in and the mention in dispatches, most appreciated. This ones a keeper!!
