Description

Some time ago, I met with this wonderful lady and I saw this picture of her, from her past. I was just crazy with the veil! I never drew an almost *invisible thing* like this, to be seen, lol, so, i did a try and show you, because i am quite curious about the result... Thank you very much for viewing and for your wonderful support on my work.Wish you all a good week with lots of inspiration. Stay well! *pencil on paper* (i gave a bit of sepia light)

OHHH! I love this portrait, Ana. I love her expression, her almost Mona Lisa smile. A smile you can´t totally define, but it is there. And I think you had great succes with the veil. A wonderful drawing.

Hi Ana, I love all the well deserved comments. So many compliments for you AND the lady. It even looks like she is ready to answer all. Smiling discrete and thinking her nice thoughts about this all. Forming an answer in her mind.... Yes she would love this very much I am sure. Keep us amazing in the future Ana, I LOVE IT! Nice day for all, citcat

I can't believe I didn't comment on this in your gallery! Well you know what I think of it...First, you drew the veil beautifully: As Tim said, "drawing the nearly invisible". And you know, it gives a very slight feeling of water dripping down, almost like tears, like we can see---through her veil---the difficulties of her life. Yet behind the veil, she has such strength. Her eyes show pain and fatigue, but they also show strength and humor. She seems to be smiling inside. You caught age, once more, with deep dignity. Her wrinkles are beautiful. And her hat is 'triumphant': It's like a big dance that celebrates her life, like she's royalty, only royalty of the soul. You do portraits of 'real' people so beautifully, Ana, people who've lived long lives and have been through a lot. You capture their lives in their faces and eyes, and in your always sensitive pencil work. Just as you capture children and babies and middle aged people beautifully, your older people are beaming and beautiful and filled with dignity. This is masterful; and, really, works like this stand out on this site as among the very, very few works that can be called the best this site has to offer. A wonderful and deep work, and it leaves me feeling truly grateful. Very moving art and human testament...

I love this! When I first saw it, I knew I would be here at some time to comment. You have captured such wonderful personality in her face. There is humor, kindness, and intelligence. You drew the almost invisible beautifully. Soft lines and I can see the veil perfectly. The shading is wonderful. You have captured the soft folds of older skin in a way that celebrates the beauty of her face, mellowed by age but brimming with personality. The darker shades of her eyes and mouth draw my eyes to hers and bring an answering smile to my lips. Very beautiful drawing!
