Description

The Cafe Gondree was the first building in France to be liberated during the D Day landings of WW2 . Situated next to the Pegasus bridge captured by glider borne troops of the Ox and Bucks light infantry . The cafe is still run by the same family ,and well worth a look inside with lots of memorabilia on display .Madame Gondree who was there as a young child at the time of the liberation is still working hard serving customers !!

One of those places I'd really like to visit.....a huge landmark of WWII and not a gun sight......I think this is the first time I've seen this without the bridge in shot too......
