Description

A view of Fort Saint Elme, which sits on a hill overlooking the coastal town of Collioure in France. At least part of the fort was constructed as early as the 8th or 9th century & it was expanded to it's present scale over the centuries. Collioure is located just a few kilometers from the Spanish border & many famous artists, including Picasso, Matisse, Gauguin & Dali spent time painting here. The quality of the light in Collioure is unique & Matisse once wrote "No sky in France is more blue than the one in Collioure"
