Perhaps you need to work on the eyelids... Either get them half closed as to express caution, or a little bit wider to exhibit wonderment.

Yes, it's the brows and the eyes that need work for the expression here. I like the glow effect of the skulls here.

Overall, I think it's very good. The light from the glowing skulls is wonderful! I might suggest a more concerned look - maybe a bit worried, with the eyes looking more to her right - she's just heard something disturb the water, and hasn't turned her head yet, but the eyes have reacted - and she's thinking 'OK, what was THAT??'
