Description

INFO: Made in 1840. This heavy vehicle got the name "The Coffee Mill" because the layer of pebbles and stones on the road were simply crunched to powder under the extreemely heavy wagons weight. This wagon was running until about year 1900 in regular service between Nørreport in Copenhagen to Klampenborg near "Bakken", the entertainment Park and Forest. For the sake of other transporters, it could only begin the route, when the wagon was full. Beacause of that, they had helpers, who jumped in the wagon to fill up the seats. It isnt written how many horses it used, but I guess that maybe 4 or 6 horses were nessesary. FULL SCREEN is better. Wish you all a beautiful weekend. We have very foggy weather right now, I cant see much longer than to the stone fence outside my bedroom window. :) It is very peacful and not a sound outside. Kind of cosy :) Thank you so much for viewing, commenting and fav to my previous post. It is highly appreciated :)

All that weight making contact with the ground at the bottom of four very narrow wheels...no wonder the wagon pulverized whatever it ran over. Extremely high weight per square inch (or per square centimeter):) Neat picture Helle! The seats look soft...ahhhhh.

This is simply amazing. Here in the 21st century, we like to think that busses belong strictly to us modern types of people, and here is something pre-modern and though it's not a bus, it's sort of a pre-bus! How marvelous! I love this image and I would love to see one of these in action: just to count the horses! I love the idea that there are things like this in the world! Simply stunning! I love the way you captured this! I get a nice feeling for its size! I'd love to ride in one! Great photo!

Very interesting vehicle and museum. Just imagine how hard it must have been for women to climb in and out especially with the clothes they wore in the 1800s. I can see a little step, but really! I wonder if they had portable steps for them to use. They must have had to lay down more rocks and pebbles on a regular basis. It would not be fun to try to get the coffee mill out of the mud. It's interesting to see the black and yellow carriage in the back and see the seating on the top. Excellent capture and information!
