Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

well, it is big and empty! it cries out to have something totally useless smack in the middle of the space

Looks like a really perfect place for a few Coke vending machines - to add to the red theme, of course! A very nice minimalist capture, Chip! :-D

This reminds me of my grandmother. She was the sort with doilies and ivy strewn wallpaper, yet one wall of her home was this same RED. It was so incongruous to the rest of her home and her, yet obviously there was something under the surface that demanded a red wall. I always liked that about her and I'm so glad you posted this.

I agree with Mike. How about an old gas pump?

Do you know what I like best about this? Well ... in a weird sort of way ... :P The reflection in the window is of the sign for the Roti Mediterranean Grill across the street. Oh man. That was some excellent food! We had lunch there on that Saturday, I think, and it was outstanding. I'd go back there in a heartbeat. As fast food goes, it's amazing! (That was the day we didn't get together until pretty late in the afternoon, which I think was the fault of zero reception for cell phones inside a metal-caged elevator in our hotel.) Anyway. Excellent food. Wonderful memory. Nothing to do with the red wall, except that it's directly across Washington from the Roti. The red wall really needs something else. If you stand there in Street View, you'll see somebody's flags hanging from the ceiling. Sort of a weird use of space, imho, but hey ... who knows why corporate marketeers do what they do? Being retired gives my brain a weird twist. Okay ... the twist was there before ... it's just more noticeable now. Did I remember to say how much I like this shot? I do. It's way cool.

Stunning capture my friend. God Bless.

A three-dimensional Piet Mondrian! The De Stijl room, maybe.

Hmmm ! Exactly that red color makes me think about what I see so often when we se the news in the danish television. Everything is red, so we shall not forget where they stand political, or maybe to make us all elect red. LOL ! This is a very nice simplicity, Chip.

Empty lobby, empty desk, empty mind??? Or streamlined, modern and way out in front? You do excellent work on your smoke breaks;-) Love it.

superlative capture

this is beautiful! very geometric almost abstract space

Yes, the epitome of a rotting corporate mind-set. A "yes, we'll incorporate that if it will save a dollar" mentality. All it needs is for that room to be full of bankers and mutual fund salesmen, or more-simply, to be full of suits.

This makes me want to write something on that wall--preferably something big and probably on the obscene side!! Great shot!!
dreampaint
great composition and contrast.

an image with a strong expression...it has something that lead you in to it

Amazing capture, and yet so glad I do not work there. ;c)

I like this a lot, though the extent that I would want such empty redness would be as a picture on a wall. I like the strong red and lines, and the subtle accents of the shadows on the walls and floor. Great light and shadows, and wonderful reflections on the floor. Excellent composition and light!
