Description

This guy walks through my yard since September. Seeing that he had built a cocoon, I thought he would soon be a butterfly. But since then there has been no change, except when it changes location. Please tell me what is this worm, animal, bug, ... whatever.

arrrggghh,it's a monster! ;-D hope you will tell us what it turned into... sincerely hope you'll be capable to do so by then! (!!) ;-) (better keep doors & windows locked?) on a more serious level... can be the caterpillar of a moth as well? (bugs too???) either way, it has to go thru a transition? beware tho for caterpillar venom! lonomia e.g. is extremely poisenous, but has a different hairdo? (usually the hairy kind) good luck!!! love it's portrait!

This looks like a Clemensia Albata (Little White Lichen Moth). They are found in Central America and the markings are the same but the color is off. Maybe they change color as they age. It looks big and scary. Terrific image.

I have no idea what this beauty is, but the markings make me think it's some kind of moth larva. Bagworms (the infants of an odd species of moth) have almost-exactly the same markings, and if the cocoon changes location then you have a bag-worm, or a bag-moth. The females never develop wings and they stay inside of their silk "bags" which are also usually decorated/disguised with leaves and stuff. Whatever this creature is, it's a beauty. I love the markings and it looks so healthy! Brilliant shot.
