Description

Yet another try with the new toy Photoshop elements 10. I did a tutorial on using the feature to have part of your image coming out of the photo for effect. This wolf was a photo from last fall. Most times it is rare to see a wolf in the wild as they tend to steer clear of people, but the odd one pops by for a visit. I included the original of this as a small thumbnail in the corner. comments on how this type of technique could be improved are more than welcome. I find the tools included in this software can produce amazing results but can be quite time consuming to learn. Jim

cool work; one critic maybe : the shadow (left-side) from the wolf on the white background destroys the 3d of the wolf and makes it flat.. if you blur the shadow way more, it would be a lot better

Cool sho, once you go PhotoShop you never go back, it's the best IMHO, although I still use a couple other editors for specific things they do better. When I worked way up North in the winter Skeg of Alta/BC wolves were plentiful, we'd run into them a lot but they wouldn't hang around long, too many of us and too noisy for their liking. Peace

This is a stunning shot of a beautiful animal. One hint: I've been experimenting with out-of-bounds feature in PS and it let's tint the picture frame your subject is coming out of. It's a little tricky at first but with a little practice you'll get the hang of it. I have a couple of examples in my gallery.

for me it turned out very professional looking.the wolf reminds me of a Malamute I had before.where ever I took him, people were afraid of him, but he was an old pussy cat.very gentle

Well you asked for my input so here goes. First of all the photo of the wolf is excellent and seems to stand on its own. I have tried to do this same out of photo look my self I had an older version of Photoshop and kept getting to a certain point and couldn't get further it took me quite a few attempts to realize my version wouldn't do it. My honest opinion is while this looks good it looks more like you just pasted the wolf on top of the original photo, the ones I have seen with this technique actually have the object somewhat still in the frame. here is a link that I found that might help
