Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

We never see rain like this on the west side of the mountains here in the Pacific Northwest. Tara describes rain here as dry rain...she was quite amused when I showed up upon moving here in 2010 with a couple of umbrellas. Your garden looks great even in a deluge:)

Sterling lighting effects in this shower drenched image, Andrea. The refreshing rain gives further impetus to your already glorious garden.

This is so...so...Springtime! Either in Chicago or Prague, well, if it was in Prague it would be Springtime taking it's 4pm shower! I love the capture of the rain itself as well as the meandering path and the wonderful riot of growth. Nature always puts on a show, and all you really need is eyes enough to see it; if you've got that then life is quite a marvel. Not only have you seen this, but you've captured it perfectly and I feel as if I'm there...seeing it and hearing it and maybe even smelling it, as rainfall always carries such a wonderful, light scent.
