Description
Have some chrome. I love that grille and the sleepy eyelids on the headlights.
Captured 8/20/11, midday, at a local auto show.
ZOOM for cool details.
The world was still recovering from the effects of World War II, and for Chevrolet in 1947, little had changed over the prior years. The models were basically the same as the 1946 year, except for minor changes. The radiator grille became softer. A three-speed manual gearbox was mated to a six-cylinder engine that displaced 216.5 cubic-inches and produced 90 horsepower. All models rested on a 116-inch wheelbase and measured 197.75-inch wheelbase. Price new was $1,160-$1,276. A total of 193,021 were built.

There were an estimated 200 vehicles at this event, and I bet about 90% of them were Chevrolets from the 1930s to the 1970s. tennessecowgirl would have loved it.
Incidentally, although this car show was very easy to get to, I wish it had been held on the lawn of a nice green park, because there's very little pleasure moving and standing about on hot asphalt in mid August while maneuvering around other attendees and determining the best POV and camera settings for snapping pics.
Farvel, thankx for coming aboard, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

Now here is a car with style. Love these cars, you can tell the difference from a Chevy to a Ford. Sweet ride.

Love this...curb feelers and all. The paint job looks fabulous. IMHO, your cars are your best work. But then I am a car fan and have been since I was 9 or 10:)

It's got the name of the car club on the license plate. If it is an official plate, there could only be one like that. I've never seen a car with sleepy eyelids. Beautiful vehicle and capture! I love the reflections.

I can never return to your work without doing at least one of your car images: Another beauty that must be seen full-size, for it's a beauty, because you captured it as a burst of sensuous light---the flare in the top shot is perfectly suited for the romance of the car---and because you capture the dignity of the beast, as you do in all your car shots. The side view allows us to see that "half-closed-eyes" look of lights in those days (it looks like their eyelids are half-closed, like they're in thought). And it also allows us to see the sweep of the two-tone chrome, as well as the reflections from the surrounding cars. You know, I never thought about the difficulty of 'getting' these shots, nor of how hard it is when on asphalt/concrete, etc. If you're battling other people, kudos for managing to "solo" these cars, because they stand out even when you have people around them. Once more, gratitude for bringing us such beauties, beauties which (for most of us) exist only in imagination or in picture books. A beautiful offering & a beautiful car.
