Description

Well, I discovered more amazing shots from this beautiful mediaval church (S. Clemente abbey) so previous announcement about "last picture" needs to be re-considered... "The coffin leaning against the wall of the left aisle was taken in 1931 in St. Clement from the mother church of Castiglione a Casauria. And 'by the middle of the fifteenth century that the longer side of the box a coat of arms (perhaps of Brancaccio). There is shown, lying with her hands decorated with a ring holding a book, as can read in the Berardo Napoleoni 'inscription in Gothic characters, which runs along the edges of the lid. Bishop of Boiano 1364 to 1390 Berardo Napoleoni is remembered in 1364 as provost of the church of Santa Maria del Colle in Pescara." http://www.sanclementeacasauria.beniculturali.it/index.php?it/92/il-sarcofago-del-vescovo
