Description
The repair ship and Fleet Tender Vestal was moored next to the Arizona when she took the hit that sank her. Vestal was also hit, managed to repair her own damage and then aided in rescuing survivors and refloating other ships during and after the attacks...
This is another model i've done and i thought i'd share her with you all...

It can't always be about battleships and so forth... its good to see some of the little ships get the limelight! Top marks. Its a wonder though that the plans were available!

it took alot of digging to get any sort of deck plans... most of my work on this one was done from photo's taken during the attack on Pearl and it's aftermath...

Very fine to see auxiliary ships. Do you make otherships? Seems you want to make a WW2 series.

Ty Opser... it took alot of digging and the only real pics i could find were those taken during the attack and shortly after while the crew was repairing their own ship... real inspirational story with this little vessel... She was moored next to the Arizona when it blew up... the explosion aboard Arizona actually blew out the fires from a hit the Vestal had taken herself... the crew made temporary repairs then went on to conduct rescue and salvage operations on the rest of the damaged ships while still making repairs to her own damages... The Vestal was a veteran of WW1 and had served as a Fleet Collier tehn after Pearl Harbour continued operations for the rest of the war in the pacific... for more of her history check out this link... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Vestal_(AR-4)
