Description

...visited on October 21st enroute home to Washington. ...this is but a part of the Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, in semi-arid, central Oregon. ...the Painted Hills were born in a fiery cloud of ash approximately 33 million years ago and are a spectacular display of the colors of nature's palette. A series of low clay hills striped in bands of orange, red, black, green, blue, and lavender. ...a very brief geological explanation for anyone interested: Painted Hills Bill "Steam Shovel" thumb_2266213.jpg

To sum this up in one word: 'SPECTACULAR' vision - it's out there! like some sort of big land-blubbery Du-gong with painted toenails ... of monumental proportions. Simply mesmerising Bill, BB
