This looks like salesman tactics to me. Lovers don't usually exchange cards - or maybe I've been doing it wrong all these years... More to the point, he's standing some distance away, in case she sets the dog on him or something.

an interestingly symmetrical composition. i like how it's still off-center, and the door creates an interesting divergence. since the light looks like it's outside, it would make sense to have a window somewhere, but the composition looks so much stronger like this. i just love what you do with simple scenes.
