Description

Living in the Redwood Empire has it's blessings. The rugged terrain allows for a diversity of environments ranging from chaparral to rainforest. This area also holds a biodiversity not seen on any other continent. This combination of terrain and biodiversity allows the mighty Redwood to flourish here. Canopy taken at the Founders Grove along the "Avenue of the Giants". These trees are as tall or taller than a football field is in length! Placed in the flower/plant genre since one can't see much of the landscape from this POV. :~) To all a great week! To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed my last image below. thumb_2266920.jpg

I have always wanted to see the redwood trees. I live 800 miles from there and I never had the opportunity, either something came up or just dont have the money lol.....so pretty picture. I made an image of this once in Bryce software. I think it is deleted from my gallery a few years ago.... this is excellent shot Thanks for letting me see red wood trees even though I am not there.

Wonderful photograph. I have taken slides in that same grove back in the 80's. Your photo brings back memories of a great day with my young daughter back then. Sadly all of my slides have been moisture damaged while in storrage. Thank you for posting.

This takes me back to when I saw them, my first and so far only time. Photos just don't do them justice, although this is an excellent photo. They are so immense, it is hard to grasp, until you are in their presence.

I think John Muir described a redwood forest as like being in a cathedral. Your image expresses that sentiment very well. The neat thing about pictures like these is that you look up to take it, get vertigo and fall over on your back which, of course, steadies the camera for the shot. I don't know if you can relate to the story but here is my version of the canopy: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2158531&user_id=4105&page=6&member&np
