Description

This is kind of a work in progress. It's done model wise (unless I find more to add). I'm having problems with the Corel Photo Paint. (it's twelve years old and is slowly fading away even with reloading it. It doesn't like Windows XP) SO the UV maps are not done. GImp works well but doesn't do some of the stuff Photo Paint does. Or at least I haven't figured out how) So............ The model is a San Francisco Class Cruiser. These Heavy Cruisers were some of the main contesters in the naval battles around Guadalcanal during the campaign there in 1942. Model size weighs in at 50.7 megs and Wings handels it very well. I decided to load this to show Chrisf that WIngs will handel it. So Chris have at it! Note: These Cruisers went through all sorts of changes. The researching took a couple of weeks. What a pain! Model done in WIngs. Rendered in Vue. Also Tip of the hat to Briney who downloaded his version which got me to get this ship out of the "started but not done file") I have a bunch of these! Comments always welsome.

It looks good. Tip of the hat to you for persevering! The paint job looks good, flat as it should be. I didn't think Corel Photo Paint even existed any more. I have Photoshop 6 (can't stand the CS variants). I expect to see more of this from you. Keep up the good work! :-)

Osper Inc Naval Division in'da'house! This is awsome (50.7meg awsome), may have to dig my 3/4 finished Bismark out....but then it's been in the dry dock behind 'The Plant' for two years so no rush...need to overhaul the Enterprise first, big plans for the New Year.....

Excellently detailed model... I recognised it immediately of course! Having stared at my own version through its creation long enough. I know what you mean about the different revisions of all the types too.

Fantastic model !!! The 'Treaty Cruisers' were known as 'Tin Clads', but they always proved to be very efficient fighting ships. THX

They can go as fast backwards as they can go forward. Something true of aircraft carriers based on cruiser hulls and dirigibles (I think, based on the Allison 1710 spec) Reverse engineering, though, is in the design of the heat exchangers.

And the title "Treaty Cruise" is particularly apt, considering these ships were designed by navies around the world in order to sidestep the London Naval Treaty of 1930...
