Description

"Yes, sir, you keep bringing me these here souvenir cases and I'll get that legislation through that will let you BLACKLIST, er sorry, Nuc any site that you THINK might be infringing on something that might or might not be your property without them pesky courts having anything to say about it at all!" Normally I avoid commentary of this kind but the bills before the House and Senate at this time have the ability to shut down sites like Renderosity just because someone claims that it MIGHT have something infringing on it. Very dangerous legislation indeed. If these bills pass the internet as we know and love it will cease to exist. For those who might be interested one bill is called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) which, of course, will do little to stop so-called Piracy. The other bill is called Protect-IP which, again, will be used to do nothing of the sort. Both of these bills are aimed at undermining the "Safe-Harbor" clauses of the DMCA (itself a barely tolerable bit of legislation) which protects sites like Renderosity from being responsible for the postings of it's users. I have given the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) permission to use this image if they wish.

Along with all the other pending legislation on the table, this is bad... It would seem that the Iron Curtain never really fell, it was relocated to the shores of America. Bit by bit our Constitution is being ripped to shreads. But what the hell, after all The Almighty Decider himself the great and powerful BushII said it was, after all, nothing more than a GD piece of paper. great render and excellent commentary.

Great scene and frightening thought but hey they have already brought in a law here (NZ) which amounts to the first one you mentioned, to stop so called on line piracy.. If someone gets caught downloading illegal say music you can get fined and lose the use of the internet even if it isn't you that has done it, say a friend of your son came over and downloaded it, its your IP address that gets banned and the person who's name is on the account gets fined.

sigh<< as long as such corrupt politicians rule our countries, nothing will change. But, we are able to change this ... the people in the arab world showed us how ... the people of the occupy-movement show us how. at last ... no one can withstand the 99%

Great render. When it comes to internet they can't seem to allow ppl to have freedom of speech. Govt needs to get off their bottoms and balance budgets and stop infringing on us! And if we were to protest? They'd find some dumb rule to arrest ppl even though we were built on principles such as that. Our forefathers had more integrity. Today ppl are content to just be quiet :( I get into trouble b/c I still have the principles thing going.

Great image and statement. I'm painfully aware of the piracy problem as I find my books listed for sale by people with no rights to sell them (you know where that leaves the author and/or artist, etc. royalties). Even the largest pub houses are losing against rampant piracy. Politicians are more concerned with stopping you from playing poker online.

They're all control freaks; never happy unless they can control every part of our lives. And the Internet, of course, is free. Some people just can't get over that.

Don't you just love how those politicians slap those warm and fuzzy names on there bills like "Prevent Animal Cruelty" then hide all kinds of crap in them that have nothing to do with the title or directs money to there cronies that use the money to line there own pockets. Yep follow the money.

An interesting caption, and a detailed image of the going on's in the world of business. Looks like there's some kind of serious debate going on here. I really like all their expressions, and the very dressy and sophisticated business attire! Well done!
