You might spot me at Kirra Beach, the South-Eastern end of the Gold Coast, Australia, if you like beach walking like myself... but there is more ! My son Jeff (*jif3d*, here at Rendo, it helps to advertise, ooops)... he took this pic of me in 2000, then manipulated it in photo-shop and it's still one of my favourites. Just very briefly about my past... *born in East Prussia; *grew up in Berlin, West Germany; *migrated to "OZ" in 1960, (not the Wizard of Oz) but...AUSTRALIA ! I guess I was more into '2D' since early childhood, and thinking that my son Jeff may have inherited some of my artistic skills, because he translated them into '3D'. I am hooked on photography, since I discovered cameras... that's it in a nutshell. BTW - one of my fav.quotes.... ** I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure - which is trying to please everybody !** that's a wrap... Cheers Brigitte.

At first I thought another Art Nouveau poster then it looked vaguely familiar. Great poster. Unfortunately, I didn't keep any of my posters from the era. It's a great poster with a timely message. Thanks for posting. It's wonderful.

Kool trippy Hippie chick, not what one would expect to see on wallpaper, but it sure does make for a change ! I reminded of the old music posters, from the likes of Jimi Hendrix or the Grateful Dead ! Well done & ~Cheers~

Good heavens, a hippie! I didn't know you were at Woodstock. Mysticism, pychedelic drugs, free love, et al! I thought you were born and bred with strict Victorian values in Australia. That said, I can see why this one is your favorite. I love all the undulation inherent in this lovely objet d'art.

Excellent choice, Brigitte!! This one is the best! Yes, memories are made of this. Oh, the good times of youth!! When I went to a party,I used two-tone shoes with platform soles, flared pants and shirt with wide sleeves, or a mustard-colored polyester Hindu jacket and a medallion hanging on my neck (mine was an Aztec calendar).I thought I looked really handsome!LOL

I should have known! This was my favorite before I read your comments. It looks so familiar. See here, #6: http://artifactsofrock.com/poster_history.html You would have loved San Francisco in the late 1960s and early 1970s. BTW - You didn't have to smoke anything. You could bake it in brownies, mmm-mmm good!

such a cool flashback.. I do have a reflection of time and the times...being of the age...reminds me of a phrase... "If you remember 60's, you weren't there" we do and we were...

First of all I'm such surprised by the colors, it fit's so well the text as the whole mood which this beauty presents. I can see why you prefer this one, dear Sis. It's such lovely and soft, and great this pretends love in all the curls and the forming of the frivolous, graceful letters which are used. Thanks for the memories and for sharing them here in a beautiful way ♥. Love to you, my friend :)

A super clear capture of this wallpaper and I can see why you would like this one too. It does bring back memories but like you I just went for the love and not the smoking. I see you have been busy while I have been away and I hope I can get caught up with them all.

Love the message and the total artwork. Those were the days.

Sadly, I missed most of that era owing to my extreme youth (I was turning 4 in '69). I HAVE smoked a water pipe before though (don't ask)!

Great capture of this, Brigitte - I too think back to the hippie years when I saw this! Fashion, expressions, values changes over time and return back in new (old) clothes and so on. This one got to me to find a link to a tune for you - have a wonderful day! JohnnyC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9iA8h0UNYk (copy & paste)

I only lived 150 miles from Woodstock in August of 1969. I was only 13 years old though, so that didn't mean much to me at the time. I definitely did the bell-bottoms thing though. They were great for rolling up to to the knees to cross creeks. And I lived bare foot. Still do whenever possible. Beautiful image and message. Wonderful artwork!

Now I never had the clothes but I did have the Hookah used to work in a used book store and smoke it at the counter. Alas I to was boring only smoked Shisha(hookah tobacco) and not the other more interesting substances.

I'm at an hour and a half, and will have to stop today, but at last I got a foothold in your gallery. Though I'd like to have stopped on one of your pieces of art, I'll end on this because it's obviously special to you---and others incl me---and because it's part of this wonderful series. I never found out who the artist of this was (it's a famous poster from the time), though whoever did it delved into the art nouveau style. And the artist used the woman to frame and engulf the words, and the words to flow out of her in thick sensual waves. Very much a mix of art nouveau and art of the 60s. The ornament is also filled with late 60s/early 70s patterns; and that elaborate water pipe---a hookah for royalty, lol---is painted with equal flowing ornament. (Mixes of Persian, European, etc.) It even has elements of the classic Islamic miniatures. I too never did drugs---I tried several, but never stayed with any of them; creativity was a far greater calling. But I've rarely seen a pipe look as sensual as this. The words are translations from the Dhammapada, attributed to Buddha, from the 3d or 4th C BC (I don't remember exactly), and it's transported to this hippie poster beautifully. After seeing this, and reading your description (as well as some of the comments), I'm almost tempted to post a pic of 'me' from that time, which I'll probably have to drink a whole bottle of Tequila to do (and I don't drink very much, so I may not be living when I'm through!). But I'll see if I can get up the nerve. But it's a beautiful piece of art, you must have a whale of a wallpaper collection; and it's a fine use of that old style for a very new purpose. I'll be back for more of your art next time, but it's been a pleasure. And thank you for your wonderful comments in my gallery! They're all appreciated, along with your humor and other observations too. It's been great to finally get a foothold in this place.
