This is Wilbur, and he is an Aldabra Giant Tortoise. These 'old' guys and gals live at The Royal Melbourne Zoo, and were actually given to Australia by Charles Darwin...........PERSONALLY! They can live for 250 years or more. Please zoom for a much better look at him.

Darwin actually brought them to Britain first where he found there was an import ban on wild tortoises whereby he managed to smuggle them through the Australian border control one day whilst they were having a break from making their television programme. Fantastic image and a living piece of history
