Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Awesome capture of Buster. I think he is daydreaming about that little yorkie from about a week ago.

This is a great portrait. Lots of emotion in this one. I wonder what he's thinking about?

Oh my. What a perfect doggie portrait this is! He's chosen a chair that perfectly compliments his coloring, the light is perfect, and he seems quite relaxed. I don't know how it could be any better. Wonderful!

Such a sweet shot.

Supreme lighting and textures in this one, Andrea. The doggie equivalent of the original "The Thinker," sculpted by Auguste Rodin, way back when. Dogs have such a short attention span I just wonder what thoughts may be running through Buster's brain.

Great title. He does seem to be thinking. I can just see Fritz going from person to person trying his best to garner attention, and being Mr. Personality.

He's such a handsome boy! Wonderful capture!

Excellent clarity and detail in this Buster capture - especially in zoom.

WOW! This is a gorgeous portrait! I love that mammals always tend to look thoughtful and quite dignified. Dogs and cats do this especially well, though I suspect that cats do so consciously so as to impress us human sorts of people with their inhuman dignity and grace! Dogs do the same and it always seems as if there are actual thoughts taking place behind their eyes...canine thoughts, to be sure, but thoughts nonetheless, and so this photo is perfectly titled. This is a brilliant piece of work and it's quite a lovely meditation on the canine form.

That's what I love about dogs....they're "just happy to be there". We could learn a lot from dogs. This is a GREAT shot.
angora

A very nice portray of him! :o)

He appears to be meditating .. his eyes have that inward looking appearance to them .. I think it should be enlarged and and framed. It is such a classic!
