Sorry for the corny title - just couldn't resist. My name is Dennis and I just got back into photography after two-decade layoff. I started off in 35mm in 1973 and lugged a couple of bags of gear, cameras, lenses, etc around the world during a 22 year Navy career. I got out of that habit after kids came along and cribs, diaper bags and car seats elbowed out camera gear for room in the car. Also, while my wife was remarkably patient with my stopping and waiting for just the right lighting, dirty-diapered kids were less so.
I got back into photography after my wife "forced" me to buy a DSLR in December of 2008. We'd gone to a camera store to buy a point and shoot for her to use in her antiques and collectibles business and she caught me looking at a couple of DSLRs in the display case. She suggested I check them out 'just for fun", but, when I tried to give them back to the sales person she asked "Which one do you want?" and refused to leave the store until I chose one.
Sadly, I lost Mrs Sea_Dog to cancer six months later, but fortunately she got to see me revive the passion I once had. My gallery is a lasting tribute to her and our love.

Over the last two and a half years, since learning about Renderosity from a friend, has been a continuous learning and discovery process. The artists here are so amazingly talented and inspirational - and extremely friendly. Seeing their work and reading their comments on mine have allowed me to grow as an artist much faster than I could have on my own.

might be less car crashes as they do not have to look at the dash to find things wonderful looking

Amazing shot.

I may sound old but this is from a time when cars were stylish and exciting inside and out unlike today. Agree it's a 55 Chevy isn't it? Only then could you get away with this colour :)

Love the pink! Makes me think of Elvis. I think you could only get away with a color like that in the 50s. To me, 1955 was the year that Chevies went from being handsome to being beautiful; a feat they pulled off for quite some time afterward. The 55 was stylistically perfect. Everything about it looks "correct" and very appealing.Like all the other parts of the car, I've always loved the dashboard. I only recently found out that the detailing on the wide chrome strip on the dash is actually 987 tiny Chevrolet "bow-tie" emblems. How cool is that? Great shot - pink and all. I love dashboards Dennis! My friends have there heads under the hood while I have my head in the drivers window. Can you remember, when some of the older imports, the speedometer was in the center of the dash?

Yes! I was a freshman in high school when this car came out. Even at fourteen I knew this car was a winner. And pink was in...we all had at least one pink shirt to wear with our suit and narrow ties hanging in the closet:)

Great shot. And you didn't have to worry about the dashboard cracking when it was standing in the sun too long! Gas was around 25 cents/gallon!!
